Professional Mentoring

Would you like guidance with your professional goals and aspirations in the charity and non-profit sector? Professional Mentoring will support you with practical and emotional aspects of job searching, applications, interviews and thriving at work.

The world needs as many passionate people working to make it a better place, but rates of burnout and mental health struggles are high in the charity and humanitarian sectors. Mentoring will also support you to prioritise your mental health alongside your career ambitions.

How many of these can you tick?

☁️ I wish I had someone to talk to about my career aspirations

☁️ I wish I had weekly/monthly/quarterly check-ins with someone who could support and track both my career goals and emotional wellbeing

☁️ I wish there was someone who would help me map out my professional development and growth opportunities

☁️ I wish I had someone to talk to confidentially about the impact of my work on my wellbeing

☁️ I wish I had someone to bounce ideas off, or navigate complex leadership decisions

☁️ I wish I had someone to proofread my job applications and CV, and work on my interview technique

If you've ticked any of those, have you considered a mentor?

I'm Katy, an award-winning professional in the charity and non-profit sector.

Some of my job titles include founder, leadership consultant, girls' rights activist, community builder, trauma-informed doula, professional mentor, academic, playworker, safeguarding lead and teacher.

Over the course of my career, I've experienced first-hand the power of a brilliant manager. I've also experienced the detrimental impact of poor leadership on my career development, aspirations and mental health.

I've had many moments throughout my career where I've wished I had someone impartial to talk to about my work. With the increase in hybrid and remote working, I recognised how isolated we'd become from our peer support and work networks, so I began offering mentoring. I offer 30 or 60-minute mentoring sessions to champion you in your work and your wellbeing.

Many charities are struggling to survive, so it's not surprising that individual career development isn't always a priority in a sector facing so many challenges, funding issues, and redundancies.

We also know that colleagues in the charity and humanitarian sectors struggle with work-related mental health challenges, burnout and compassion fatigue. I founded The Joyful Activists in response, a global wellbeing community for activists, humanitarians and charity people.
